Canada is a destination that many people would like to go to. This country ensures an excellent quality of life, however, surely you are wondering “what do I need?”. Find out if you need an eTA or a visa to visit Canada
We help you to know which are the documents you need to apply for to go to Canada and make your job easier.
Difference between Visa and eTA
Find out if you need an eTA or a visa to visit Canada. A Canadian eTA is not the same as a Canadian visa. A visa is a physical authorization, such as a stamp or sticker that is placed in your passport so that you are allowed to enter a foreign country.
Normally, you either apply in advance for the visa at an embassy or you must obtain it at the border. Both require time to fill out paperwork and clearance from an immigration officer.
Canada requires citizens of many countries to get visas to enter Canada. An eTA, on the other hand, is somewhat simpler.
If Canada does not require a visa for citizens of your country, you will probably need to obtain an eTA. The exception is U.S. citizens who only need to bring passports to the border to enter Canada.
However, persons with legal residence in the U.S. who are not U.S. citizens will need an eTA.
A Canadian eTA is simpler and quicker to apply for than a visa. An eTA is an electronic rather than physical document. It is automatically linked to your passport once your application is ready.
Canada’s most common visas are single-use and multiple-use visas. Most people receive a multi-purpose visa that allows them to visit Canada for up to six months at a time. Of course for a period of ten years or until their passport expires.
An eTA remains in effect for a period of five years. However, if you get a new passport, you will need to apply for a new eTA.
